In this state, a person is arrested when a judge issues an arrest warrant, is kept in custody when a judge rules accordingly, and is released when the prosecution fails to present substantial evidence that custody is necessary.
Being born and raised in such a state, Poettering simply cannot understand that Israel arrests Palestinian lawmakers without any substantial accusation, and without any evidence which would lead to conviction, only as pawns or, yes, as hostages.
Sorry, Israelis, it is a clash of cultures: European democracy and Israeli pseudo-democracy. Incompatible. |
