The average people of society are the true criminals of rape.
Rape is not more serious than other forms of physical assault. A purpetrator brutalizes and injures a victim. The victim of rape may be male or female.
Rape involves an area of the body that we associate with emotional intimacy. Nevertheless, rape is not catagorically different from other physical attacks, like kidnapping or injury.
The only real difference between rape and other kinds of assault is the way society treats the victim.
Society treats genital assault irrationally and - somehow - blames the victim for the attack.
Society is to blame. Society is the true criminal. Society must reform itself.
Stop treating victims of rape differently. They were attacked. They suffered psychological trauma from helplessness and often physical injury. They will regain confidence. They will heal.
