However, many readers may be unaware as to why parents send their children to Jewish schools in big cities like New York.
The public school system here is a disaster. Aside from a few elite public specialty schools (for students who excel in science, music, etc) no middle class or upper class white parent will send their kids to public schools. This is the reason why they send their kids to Jewish schools.
Of course, many parents want their kids to get a Jewish education. But the primary motive for most parents to spend 30K a year is that they don`t want their kids going to public schools that are dangerous and substandard.
I don`t blame these parents. I am just making a point for readers who are unaware of the situation here. |
