I think you comments are understandable and represent many, but I think you totally miss the point. Of course countries collect intelligence and yes, Israel apologized and that apology was accepted which is fine.
But the point is anyone who reveals to a foreign power classified secrets for which he was specifically entrusted and sworn to uphold has committed the most henious act of treason. That is true in the U.S.A., Israel and all other nations. The punishment in the U.S.A. can include execution or prison without parole which is standard in such a case.
I resent what Pollard did against his country and also consider what he did a crime towards all American Jews. I have no problem with letting him rot in jail for what he did and I dare say, I believe I speak for the vast majority of Americans, non-Jew and Jew alike. |
