| Egypt has hated israel ever since its creation. There are a number of reasons for this. First, the influence of Nazi Germany was felt directly, and also indirectly, through its nuclear and other scientists. Second, Nasser`s pan Arabism could not reconcile itself with the existence of a new, Jewish state, right at its borders. Third, Israel had beaten Egypt in three wars, a sin that could never be forgiven. Fourth, Egypt, which considers itself an ancient civilization felt in compatition with this other ancient civilization, Israel. Fifth, Israel succeeded in becoming a stable, fairly prosperous democracy, whereas, Egypt lagged behind. Sixth, the Egyptians are not immune to ancient hatreds of anti-Semitism which they express most strongly in their disdain for the Jewish state. Last, the superiority felt by the Muslim world toward infidels, Jews being the most prominent infidels, has found expression in radical Jihad which is turned against the West and conspicuously against Israel. |
