Judging from several holiday-trips to Egypt, I made the experience that many Egyptians do have no problem anymore with Israels existence in the region, only with her "behaviour".
Many people told me, if Israelis would only be willing to accept a peace deal along the Geneva initative, they would fully accept Israel and just love to make (good) business with the Israeli people.
I therefore strongly believe that the "mental barrier" among a majority of (mainstream) Arabs to accept Israels right to exist has fallen steadily over the past years (decades).
A more open Israeli approach towards diplomacy could definitely not harm this trend... |
