It must be alsways remembered, that the 1947-1949 war was continuation of event of 1936-1939, when Arabs launched their first "intifada" -- campaign of indiscriminate mass murder, in response to raising number of Jews, returning to the Land of Israel as the result of Nazi persecutions. Then, British Peel Commission proposed for the first time to partition the land between Jews and Arabs. Jews were proposed the strip of beach between Tel-Aviv to Haifa plus spot of land in Galilee. Jews then accepted the plan, Arabs rejected it and continued with their violence. The colonial power, headed then by infamous Chamberlain the appeaser, bowed to Arab terrorism and issued the "White Book", which effectively banned Jewish return to the Land of Israel, in violation of prior British commitments. Jews of Europe remained without refuge. |
