| The Gemmora, the Rambam and the Shulchan Aruch were written well before the enlightenment. Though the expression "Orthodox Judaism" itself is a more modern term. The issues contention that "Orthodoxy has in its surrounding environment are not modern. These include; intermarriage, homosexuality, secularism(ie;the Greeks and Romans). As Shlomo Hamelech said, "There is nothing new under the sun." Except of course the reform and Masorti Movements. |
