If these people want to join the nation of Israel by converting, then they need to do it properly. This means joining the nation AND accepting G-d and His commandments. That`s not the case with those mentioned in the article.
Nobody cares what the "high" court says. They will not determine who is a Jew. Thousands of years of Jewish law do that.
Does the overall conversion system need improvement? Absolutely. But this MUST come from WITHIN the system.
To sum up, if someone wants to be a Jew then this means accepting the obligations of a Jew- the commandments. Not interested? Fine. You can be a good person even so- but not a Jew. |
