A quick look back at Israel`s history will reveal it was not the Palestinian population that has destroyed ALL natural sources of water, nor was it them that has made Haifa the most polluted city in the world, nor was it them that have destroyed entire natural habitats to place settlements all throughout the Galilee. It`s very easy to put the blame on everyone else but us, unfortunately history shows that it was the Jewish population that has done the most to destroy the environment in Israel, regardless the number of trees that have been planted, it`s the number of environments that have been destroyed.
A good reference is Pollution in a Promised Land: An Environmental History of Israel by Alon Tal, although there`s a biased streak throughout the book, the author is wise enough to state the facts and name the names. |
