In Germany live more than 80 million people, with a very large Turkish community and one of the most multi-cultural societies in Europe.
Germany is a more complex country than most people think about. There is a remarkable difference between the South (Bavaria) and the rest of the country, and even a greater gap between former West and East Germany.
Adding to this, Germany has done and continues doing an outstanding effort to face the collective responsibilities arising from the Holocaust. I am not speaking only about financial reparations but specially about educational work with the youth.
That a group of neo-Nazis spray a Jewish monument is outrageous but it is not representative of the country. Go and have a look by yourselves before indulging in German bashing. |
