| ...if we didn`t have to pay those pesky taxes that support health care, education, sports, culture, and social services of all kinds for every sector of society. However, one pays for quality of life or one just doesn`t have it to enjoy. To complain about the support to the quality of life made by the religious component of society, on the basis that it somehow "costs" society something, is short-sighted and parochial. Rather, it might be enlightening to honestly explore the many ways the religious sector contributes to society as a whole. And we might all be better off if we celebrate our diversity rather than disparage it. After all, Ahavat Yisroel applies in all directions, to include both the secular and the religious among us. |
