Yoav Stern, Haaretz Correspondent: Poll: 75% of Israeli Arabs support Jewish, democratic constitution

Title:Time for normalization

City: State: Israel
We all should encourage any effort to grant full citizenship and equal rights to all citizens of Israel, regardless of their ethnicity or religion. That, and the ability to choose the government in the ballot box, is what democracy means today, not more and not less.

I still do not grasp how this very basic idea can be harmonized with the Jewishness of the state and its religious facets. If we take the Law of Return, for instance, I am convinced that it played a crucial role during the formation of the state but once it has fulfilled its historical mission, it should be revised. Let`s be clear about this, more democracy can just strengthen Israel while the opposite will just alienate the most valuable members of its society.

A state for all its citizens: I would not call this a revolution, but plainly normalization.
