...Mizrahi would do well do influence the incumbent administration to wake up, smell the coffee and start genuine negotiations with Syria, which everyone "in the know" says Syria truly wants. Trying to cajole and pressure everyone in the world to militarily isolate the Arab countries or stop them developing nuclear technology (Iran is a special case though) is a futile battle. The status quo in the territories and region is untenable; we can either finally start making friends with our neighbors now or we can choose to continue isolating ourselves until the shifting balance of power forces us to do in 10-20 years` time what we can do now in dignity and even present it as our victory.
Call me cynical but I wouldn`t put it past Olmert & co. that they are actually preparing for a war--or at least a skirmish--with Syria in order to be able to say yet again that there is no peace partner and, of course, to be able to put the Arab Initiative on the back-burner. mls.lists@btinternet.com |
