Regarding the Land of Israel, it is neither owned (your are correct there) nor leased (here you erred). It is always referred to as an "inheritance" or "legacy". You have to pay all applicable "taxes" (commandments) in order to inherit, and you have to maintain the inheritance for future generations as it is a legacy. But it is no one else`s inheritance or legacy, and it is part of our special relationship to G-d. |
