This problem with this poll is that it only deals with the averages. And it`s arguably true that the average Jewish citizen makes more then the average Arab citizen.
But that doesn`t mean that the average Jewish citizen that requires welfare makes more then the average Arab citizen that makes welfare.
For example, take the Jewish family that has 8 children and learns in a kollel all day. They very probably make less money then the Arab family that has eight children and the father works in construction. Do both need charity, probably yes. But the Jewish family would need considerably more charity then the Arab family.
A useful poll would compare Arabs and Jews at the same income level and see how much money they receive at each income level in each city(50k shekels a year is worth a different amount in Tel Aviv and in Hadera for example just like it is in New York and Cleveland because prices are higher in Tel Aviv and New York). |
