| In 1929 the 67 jews in hebron were murdered Nearly all were killed by non-locals who had come from jerusalem Over two-thirds of the community were rescued by their Palestinian neighbours. There are lists of these rescuers in the zionist archives.. one list names 435 people: see CZA S25/4472 AND CZA S25/3409 It is true that the land of the survivors was confiscated by the jordanians after 1948 However, it is also true that at least 94% of Israel is palestinian land confiscated after 1948 - with no right to return for its owners - and this includes "present absentess" who are palestinian citizens of Israel and to this day are denied the right to reclaim their land To paraphrase Shragai, "The Israeli government has become reconciled to this injustice. The [palestinians] are generally denied the natural right to purchase homes and to enjoy the right of purchase." |
