The leaders of the exclusive Flemish "Vlaams Blok (Belang)" cause the Flemish in Belgium more harm than good, and cause much friction between Flemish and Walloons.
Comparison with Israel doesn`t stop here. For instance, there are 2 other, tinier communities: Germans (Eupen, Malmedy, St. Vith) and Luxembourgers (Arlon, Martelange). There also are a great many immigrants, mostly from italian, spanish, turk and moroccan descent as well as many blacks from ex-colony Congo. And since EU enlargement, a lot of "bureaucrats" + families from each and every of the 27 EU-countries.
Apart from a bunch of die-hard "Vlaams-Bloc"- and "caliphate"-lunatics, everyone here enjoys the Belgian way of life which of course is far from ideal but has its charme, as Marx, Baudelaire and Victor Hugo plainly admitted. |
