I love Tel Aviv but I also love Toronto which is not sparsely populated and is on Lake Ontario, including beaches! It has a mid-western climate which means winter and snow but sunny hot summers. There is a large Jewish population in Toronto. The project, which is across from the Dan, will not have a direct view of the sea, it is considerably lower than the Dan, both old and newer towers. Work had already begun last summer, if I remember correctly, on restoring the bauhaus type buildings on the site and Israeli architects are very talented in doing this type of work, witness Sderot Rothschild. Toronto is an expensive city but isn`t getting investors from all over the world like Tel Aviv which is very attractive to Jews from Paris, South America, and the USA.
The building was in very bad shape and I am excited that it is being restored. |
