| The bantustans already exist and are not something in a vision of the near future. Israel claims its Arab minority are equal citizens, in a way that Serbs in Kosova would demand that Albanians be good Serbs to be good citizens. Israel demands that Hamas initiate an immediate cessation of terror and declare their recognition of Israel to exist as a Jewish state. Yet, they are not prepared to declare that concomitantly, they are willing to immediately begin the end of the ocupation in all areas of Palestine, in a negotiated settlement, not unilateral withdrawal, with the Palestinians. Zionism, its history, its ideology, its symbols is inherently "Jewish". The best it can offer is a facsimile of equality to minorities on an idividual basis, but it is not willing nor indeed is it capable of granting collective, communal rights to that minority its counts among its citizenry. This is a contradiction with Zionism. |
