Americans, including Jewish Americans, are genuinely concerned about what is happening in Darfur. Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed there and millions have become refugees. As to comparing Iran to Nazi Germany in 1938, the analogy is ludicrous. Germany had a heavily-armed force of over one million men and was certainly one of the predominant military powers in the world at the time. By contrast, Israel certainly has a military force at least as powerful as Iran`s, and its chief ally, the United States, has overwhelmingly more powerful forces. But, as we have learned in Iraq, war is still quite costly and is not something to be embarked on lightly. We have lived with the threat of a nuclear-armed opponent before (the Soviet Union), and we managed to contain it. While I would hope that Iran can be deterred from deploying nuclear weapons, I believe that we can contain any threat posed by Iran.
