Islam hasn`t changed. People twist religion to suit their own goals. Some people interpret it loosely to allow them to indulge in worldly pleasures. Others use it to restrict free speech and the rights of women. But the religion itself hasn`t changed.
Fundamentalism thrives in conditions of poverty, oppression and hopelessness. That is why it is in the interest of Israel`s people to encourage secularism to trump fundamentalism. The difference is that you will have more Jordan-like neighbors than Pakistan-like neighbors. which is better ? |
