| Old misconceptions seem to last forever. If you eat meat, then an animal has been shechted or slaughtered in some non-kosher manner. When offerings were brought in the Beth HaMikdash they were shechted the same way. It was no more or less cruel than any other shechita, so unless you`re a vegetarian you have no right to complain. There are genuine Halachic problems with bringing opfferings at present, but shechitah is not one of them. The Pascal lamb as you know was roasted and eaten at the Passover seder. Would you say roasting and eating lamb is barbaric? |
