People can petition the court and claim discrimination based on the the right to dignity. Courts derived the right to equality from the right to dignity, which is protected in the Basic Law, but the problem is that even then is trumped when the Jewish nature of the state is at stake, and the court usually uses "security" as an exuse to sanction racism.
2 partners from different faiths cannot marry in Israel because marriage is regulated by religious authorities and these usually ban mixed marriage (except for the case of muslims, who according to islamic law can marry Jews or christians). there is no civil marriage in Israel, so partners from different faiths usually marry abroad. |
