Some good advice but it will never see the light of day. Mr. Segal is a keen enough observer of Israeli politics to realise that Israel precisely does not want any "Palestinian moderates of any stature left standing." If they did, they would havve responded positively to the formation of a unity government and Hamas`s commitment to respect former agreements. If it did that it would have to enter negotiations dealing with final borders, refugees and Jerusalem. It has no interest in doing that. Israel prefers to stall as long as possible so it can drone on and on with its mantra: "we have no partner for peace." Segal must surely realise that. Israel has made it clear in word and deed that it has no intention of returning to `67 borders or giving up its blocs of colonies, will not discuss Jerusalem or refugees. Israel and Israel alone sets the terms here and the US will listen and the Palestinians will be sidelined as recalcitrants.
