I have read this article, and Mr. Segal has ar- gued the points well. But will we ever see a completely demilitarized Palestinian State which was originally projected, in exchange for full autonomy in the administration of its affairs? This is the real "endgame", not Jerusalem. And to imagine that the refugees would be moved out of their camps into settled communities, after Israel made its commitment to remove its own settled communities. Furthermore, why can these refugees not be given the choice to be citizens instead of refugees, in Lebanon, for example, if they receive any kind of compensation? Why is the Arab world so "corked up" on that level of refusing to allow citizenship? I find that hypocritical and exclusionary. Anyway, things will evolve in the way that they will evolve, as the Shi`ites are demanding a voice too. Is there room to accommodate everything? |
