If you walk around Jaffo, you will see a lot of empty buildings. In the 19th centuary large numbers of pilgrims arrived by sea and stayed in cristian hostelsbefore setting off for Jerualem (a 2 day journey then). Today there are very few Christians living in Tel Aviv-Jaffo. It should be possible for the city government t6o take these buildings by eminent domain or they will remain unused for ever, right in the center of a large urban area. Mike |
