I would like add to the list The Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD - icahd.org), which tries to stop Jerusalem Municipality from leaving families in East Jerusalem homeless by demolishing their houses.
ICAHD explains how the permit system while ostensibly applicable to all in fact makes it impossible for Arabs to get permits to build homes and thus gives them an excuse to destroy if they go ahead anyway. About 15,000 E Jeru homes have demolition orders on them. It`s mean-minded legal chicanery which makes it possible for Israelis to feel good about living in a democratic state while having a discriminatory Anti-Arab effect. |
