I have just watched a scene where the blockage of a TA street was enacted to remind the Israelis what happens daily to the Palestinians. The implication being that it is undeserved, pointless and deliberately cruel.
I would just like to point out two factors. The first is that the street blockade was an empty charade. Israelis were not threatening those who blockaded them. There were no suicide bombers to be defended against. There were no weapons to be sought.
The second is that if there had been no violence on the part of the Palestians during the intifadas the way they live wouldn`t have happened and if they stop using violence now all the apparatus of `occupation` will come to a halt.
If the Palestinians give up their objection to the presence of Israel in the Middle East, which is already a fact, there can be compromise. You can`t discuss peace with an explosives belt or a loaded rifle. |
