I heard the same terminology, "banana republic", "third world country" from a Russian immigrant in the early `70s before the massive wave hit Israel from the former USSr. He left the country soon after and is now an actor with a career in London. I think charles does take a racist view which seems to be based on the significant number of "mixed multitude" who have arrived. Thise who used Israel to get out of the poverty in the eastern european countries they left behind. These individuals may have had a Jewish grandparent which had been overlooked or intentionally neglected until it was seen as a passport out. Charles assumes that it is this "mixed multitude", who he sees as goyim who are responsible for all the ills in Israeli society. My question is not his, but how is it that these individuals have rights while a Palestinian born in Ramallah, returning from the US cannot bring his family or set up residence in his birthplace, while Igor with a Jewish grandparent can.
