| I think the above debate is framed in the wrong terms. If one is concerned about the homogenity of Israeli society, we must also consider whether the strictures of halachaic recognition of Jewish heritage are drawn too restrictively. In my opinion, it is this definition, and not the definition or requirements of the law of return, that is wrong. |
