| I believe that too much is made of the stereotypical "gas chambers" when it comes to the Holocaust. Most Jews and other undesirables were executed by the SS in open-air pits with a single shot to the head, not with gas chambers. Besides, the Jews and other minorities were a small percentage of the total killed during the time. I agree, it was a great tragedy and should never be overlooked or diminished; but neither should the 62,000,000 total, civilian and military, who lost their lives as a result of WWII. As it stands, no one seems to care about them. In an ironic twist, it seems to me that the lesson of Nazism hasn`t been learned, that people can still consider one life more valuable and worthy of attention than another in this manner. |
