The issue here, as Ami Eden wrote well about in the Times last year, is how institutions (Jewish and otherwise) can effectively confront antisemitism and Holocaust denial, and another "International Day of ____" isn`t gonna get the job done.
Perhaps we might be better served by our political representatives if they spent more time trying to figure out ways to support strong elements within countries like Iran that are fighting the good fight for modernity against the forces of chauavanism, obscurantism, and nonsensical Islamism or Chavezism without tarnishing them in the process, and to find popularly-supported diplomatic solutions to the issues of borders, trade, representation, etc. that keep us all riding on this merry-go-round. |
