| We both understand that the recent war was not a credit to any of the politicians or generals involved. In the end the facts are immutable. Israel failed to achieve any of its stated goals. Hisbollah was not destroyed, and is now a greater power in Lebanon than before. I am not a pacifist. There are wars you need to fight. Yom Kippur in 1973 Israel had no choice other than fight or die. In the summer of 2006 Israel had the choice of fighting or dealing. The two situations were not the same. Not only did Israel`s prime minister choose to fight, he chose to loose by not having a clue what he was doing. If the very real failures are not to be repeated, the fool who made them must be removed from the chance of repeating them. |
