The biggest mistake was thinking that bombs were the right weapons to use to hunt individual terrorists. It`s like using TNT to fish, or 50mm full-auto`s to hunt doves. It`s overkill, and the wrong tool for the job.
All it did was destory a bunch of expensive civilian infastructure and killed a bunch of non-combatants while the actual terrorists folded up their rocket launchers and were long gone by the time the bombs hit.
Results:
1) The terrorist lived to launch rockets another day, mocking and weakening Israel`s deterence. 2) Dead non-combatants that Israel was forced to appologize for again and again during the war. 3) Huge reconstruction bills that Israel`s allies are begrudgingly paying on behalf of Israel.
Wrong tactic, disasterous results. |
