| Were there any victims other than the students of the Yeshiva (who were knifed in their sleep)? At the time, the members of the old yishuv recalled an ancient prohibition for unmarried men to live in Hebron. No one went so far as to say out loud that they brought it on themselves, but that prohibition was definitely talked about. Of course the zionist agitators were only too happy to use this as an excuse to retaliate on innocent arabs living many miles away. |
