| I guess even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then! Major increase in use of nuclear power is not only a solution to the greenhouse gases-global warming connection, it is an absolutely necessary solution. The burning of coal to generate electrical power is largest cause of greenhouse gas release and it can ONLY effectively be replaced by nuclear power. Other issue besides burning of coal is the excessive use of petroleum as fuel, which can only be controlled by steadily increasing the consumer tax on petroleum based fuels used for transportation. Due to the foolishness of the environmentalist/consummerist colalition in US, America has much further to go on both of these issues than Europe. The big question is, as always, what way will China go, since their coal reserves provide a great temptation for them. They are building more nuclear power plants than US at the moment, which is still in the grip of the environmentalist fools. |
