| The key to a successful aliya is forgetting that you are an "oleh" and realizing that you are first and foremost an "immigrant". Once you realize that, you will work harder, be less dependent on government help and the various government clerks. The closer your own immigrant experience and immigrant mentality mirrors your grandparents` or great granparents` experiences after their emigration, the better you will be. I realized that I had to think "immigrant" and not "oleh" when I made aliyah some 22 years ago and that is what enabled me to survive and integrate here. Israel is a great place to live. Tough as can be, but worth every drop of this immigrant`s strength. |
