Mr.Friedman should be seen and understood against his psychology, which is shadowed by the Holocaust that took away his family-members. Holocaust itself is beyond reason, because it is evil too big to be comprehended with human intelligence. I think that he is clinging to Judaism and to his faith in Hashem through self-punishment, which is the denial of Holocaust, which he - I think - sees as the fault of the Jews, as if the Jews had caused it for being "bad" and hence "deserving" to have been "punished". Therefore he - I think - believes that Israelīs existance is also "bad", because it contradicts with the belief of the Orthos that "true" Israel will be established by the Messiah, when He arrives. Israelīs existance hence "defies" this belief and Israelis are seen again as "bad": worth punishment thereof. Instead of judging Mr.Friedman, I hope that the Viennese Jewish Congregation will see to that he receives some appropiate psychological councelling. I feel sorry for him. |
