Israel has a responsibility to explore Syrian motives for peace, and Assads ability to carry through. MI and Mossad are also both supportive and cautious.

Of course, but did not SecState Rice IMPOSE limits (the Litani, weapons) on Zahals ability to conduct the war? This indicates meekness at the political level to represent Israel to the US. But since the US laid down limits, they should be the last to criticize their imposed outcome. Some among the military leadership were poorly positioned to conduct the war, failing to pre-position supplies; and confusion was apparent in some generals engaging the enemy, etc. What was not in doubt, and that which could spell disaster for Israels adversaries, is that our foot soldiers demonstrated courage, independence and determination in facing their enemies in the field to their front, and to their rear. |
