| I myself have been a victim of Haredi violence - My boyfriend and I were standing in the Shuk (Mahane Yehuda) innocently enough with our arms around each other, my boyfriend kissedme on the cheek. We happened to be standing near the stall of a Haredi man. He demanded that my boyfriend and I refrain from touching each other in public. I retorted that we are in a public place and are free to do as we choose. The Haredi stall-owner proceeded to push my boyfriend and I violently with a large and heavy box until we fell to the ground. No one helped us. Some of the other Haredi people around screamed at us for our behavior. I will never forget this. This has changed my opinion of the Haredi community forever. I am disgusted by their behavior - it is completely un-Jewish. |
