I believe this. I have a a drivers licenses for 10 years and until i got to israel had never been in an accident. Since I arrivd 2 years ago I have been involved in 3 pretty bad road accidents. One when a car tried changing lanes at high speed while going up a hill and hit my car. My car was totalled, but luckily no one was injured. The other two accidents were during my army service. Everyone That I know in israel has been in car accidents and most poeple know someone who has been injured and killed. The government runs countless ad campaigns reminding ppl to cheack thier tires, fasten seatbelts, do regular mechanical tests on their cars, designate a driver while out drinking etc.Nothing helps. Israeli`s just have a need to get to where they are going 30 seconds fater than the guy next to him. Personally if I am late to an engagement I usually do not drive there.I will either take public transportation or a cab. It is not worth my life to try to rush to be late.be carefull..
