Demonstrations have been effectual in toppling communist governmemnts that had no popular support. However, knowing the balance of power in Lebanon, do you think Nassralah can prevail? What about those Lebanese who protested Hariri`s assassination? They probably can muster an equal if not a larger demostration. In my opinion, if Nassralah keeps his pledge not to use force, there is no way he can force Siniora to resign. On the other hand, if he raises his arms against the Lebanese he will discredit Hezbollah as a political party and justify confiscation of their arms. A no win situation. Can you explain why Hezbollah does need arms if they are only after political power. They know well that Israel will not attack Lebanon without provocation? Or, maybe, their arms are intended to launch an attack on Israel? |
