Pius XII failed to denounce that crime, it is taken for granted. he failed an even more valuable task: speaking against nazism (at any count, more than mussolinian fascism, a movement that wanted to create, somehow, its new religion based on blood and fatherlans) and preventing it from rising. Opportunism, fear? Where the pope failed, many small, unimportant priests made their share in trying to save jews. Some of them (Father Kolbe, for instance) paid with their lives. It is a small toll against the huge price that the world jewish community paid. But, as usual, faith gave more than institution. |
