| several years ago, 60 Minutes aired a show in which they hinted very strongly that the Pope had made a deal with hitler, to spare the historic buildings of the Vatican especially, from air bombings, but in return he`d turn a blind eye to whatever awaited the Jews of Rome, the show claims a groupd of 400 were housed very close to the personal apartment of the Pope, before deportation. I have to admit, i have heard about london and dresden bombings, but nothing about damage to the Vatican. Are there any historians out there who can shed light on this?
