It did amaze me how little people think, and how much they rely on the most absurd beliefs. I grew up as a catholic, and by catholic rules it is a sin to think freely. But since I am confident heaven will be mine anyway, and that I will meet the entire Jewish community there, I don`t care about sinning against the catholic rules. I have a direct connection with God, without allowing a pope in between that might manipulate me. However, I do understand why it was so difficult for pope pius XII to defend the Jews. The man grew up in a church that preached antisemitism. He could only make a carreer in that institution by accepting it`s brainwashing. I think it requires devine power to make the about-turn that we want him to make. I am not defending him, but I want to make clear that what happened was the responsibility of an entire society. We need to know what we want.
