| In the Bible, there is a story about Cain and Abel. G-d asks Cain about his brother. Cain responds "Am I my brother`s keeper?" What does this teach us? That we are all responsible for each other. The Bible also tells us to love our neighbor. What does this mean? That we are all the brotherhood of man. And what does that mean? When we see something wrong, we must speak out. We must do something. Staying silent is acquiescence. During the Holocaust, there were many righteous Gentiles who helped to save thousands of Jews. They understood G-d`s message. So why couldn`t the pope? |
