Pregnant women are not looked upon as saints in the Chassidic/Hareidi community. I`m no sociologist but I can tell you from personal experience it`s simple peer pressure. Yes, peer pressure. A woman gets married, within 2 months people start peering at her stomach for a bulge. I`m not joking. After that, it`s there`s a semi-competition over who has the largest family. Not because of some Talmudic phrase, or whatever, that`s simply how the culture is. The Hitler thing is true though, that children of Holocaust survivors feel as if they`re resurrecting the Jewish nation.
Anyway, just thought I`d give y`all a reality check. |
