| This is a step in the wrong direction. As a reform Jew myself, I grew up knowing that the Law of Return insured that ANY Jew in the world, no matter what sect, how he/she became a Jew (either by conversion or birth) would ALWAYS be welcomed as a citizen to Israel. If a friend of mine who is Catholic decided to convert to Reform Judaism, that would be a giant step in the direction of truth (going back to the roots of the Tribe - before the idolotrous worship of Josh 2000 years ago). By blocking my hypothetical friend from entry into Israel, we are denying this step towards the light that this one person has taken. Jews need to welcome all steps towards us, not deny or shun those steps that aren`t as big as we would like. |
