This parade is not a campaign for political and institutional rights, which homosexuals already have in Israel. Its sole purpose is to draw attention by offending the religious population of Jerusalem. The unfortunate violence seen this week is an accumulation of frustration over the past five years, in which the peaceful requests to cancell the parade were consistently ignored. Three years ago this writer stood along their path peacefully with a sign saying "you are imposing yourself on Jerusalem`s population."
